Design and fabrication of optimal supporting spacer grids for bowed and/or ballooned heater rods tests
CHALLENGING SIMULATION HEATER RODS
Direct simulation heaters with different profiles (uniform, cosine, skewed (top peak, bottom peak, double peaks)), different materials, length, dimensions, and peaking factors:
ATF Simulation Heaters: ATF simulation heater rods with different coating material and different coating thickness to facilitate high flow, high flux, and high temperature simulation heaters for CHF tests with rapid temperature transient.
Simulation Guide Tube: Triple insulated simulation guide tube design with accurate prototypical hydraulic dimensions and triple protection to allow installation in a high current field together with other electrically heated rods for thermal-hydraulic tests.
Bowed Rods: proprietary bowed rod design to facilitate simulation of various localized rod bow phenomena with different location, degree, and shapes of bows.
Ballooned Rods: proprietary ballooned rod design to allow simulation of various localized rod ballooning phenomena with different degrees and shapes of ballooning.
Wire Wrapped Simulation Heaters:
Cruciform Simulation Heater Rods: can be made to simulate uniform or various non-uniform power peaking factors.
